Projected Outcomes is an attempt to interpret the value of The Value of Nothing exhibition at Tent, Rotterdam, by mapping the hard data of its costs and income. The artwork manually tracks the exhibition’s ‘Big Data’, such as: how many grants and how much income the exhibition has, where expenditure is going, and how often the press mentions a particular work. Everyday, new data regarding the results of the exhibition, such as visitors and press attention, is added to the work or erased and changed. Sponsors evaluate exhibitions according to the same sort of information. Projected Outcomes asks to what extent can the value of an exhibition be expressed in such data.
