Press Text

At Art Cologne 2025, Office Impart presents a solo presentation by Jonas Lund, bringing together three interconnected bodies of work that examine systems of care, control, and participation within networked environments.

Network Maintenance (2025) is a series of networked wall-mounted interfaces that transform ownership into an act of maintenance. Each piece requires regular interaction from its owner to sustain the health of a shared system, turning passive spectatorship into active responsibility within a living network.

Technical Difficulties captures moments of technical and emotional failure through a sequence of 3D-printed wall pieces. Centered on a recurring IT technician figure, the works explore the contradictions of contemporary technological existence—competence and confusion, detachment and care, collapse and repair.

Completing the presentation, Maintenance Manual (2025) consists of hand-drawn diagrammatic paintings that oscillate between explanation and abstraction. Positioned between the functional logic of Network Maintenance and the human narrative of Technical Difficulties, the works visualize the desire to make sense of complex systems even when full understanding remains out of reach.

Together, the three series articulate a layered reflection on interdependence—between humans and machines, users and networks, systems and the individuals who sustain them. Lund’s presentation at Art Cologne invites viewers to consider how maintenance, attention, and care operate as both technical requirements and ethical gestures within the infrastructures that shape our shared reality.
